"Just keep blogging, just keep blogging, just keep blogging...."
(Imagine Dory from finding Nemo as you read that first line.)
Yep. I said it. Despite my best intentions, I struggle to keep my blog fresh with new content.
It's not that I don't have anything to say or share. On the contrary. My Evernote account is loaded with links to and snippets of articles I think you'd find interesting or helpful.
But I often find it hard to share articles without adding spice or commentary to make the pieces my own. If I shared without commentary, my blog would simply become a source of curated content. Maybe that's not so bad.
Blogging can be a full-time job, if you let it.
Part of the problem is that I'm a perfectionist. I have a folder filled with "half done" or "needs to be tweaked" blog posts. A great idea pops into my mind ... I start the article ... and then I edit ... and I edit ... and I edit ... and I want to add images ... and those images need to be annotated ... and I need to tweak headings and subheadings ....
It feels like a full-time job!
Another part of the problem is that, at the end of the day, when I'm done writing and editing and reading and researching and interviewing and evaluating and consulting for my clients, I really don't feel like writing and editing and reading and researching even more.
I'd much rather head to the gym, watch an episode of Revenge, enjoy a glass of wine with my husband, or check out what's happening with friends and family on Facebook.
But what I CAN do, and what I find that I often DO do, is share interesting stuff on social channels. This way, I don't have to write a full blog post. I can simply jot down a summary, take a screenshot if applicable, and share the piece to my readers right away.
Can social substitute for blogging? I don't think so, but when we're busy....
So that's the purpose of this message: To invite you to follow me on one or more social channels. That's where I'm active, and where I plan to be even more active from this moment on. Instead of storing share-worthy pieces in Evernote in hopes that I'll have time to write about them "someday," I'll share them on social, so you get the information you need faster.
Here's where to find me:
Use one, more, or all of the channels -- whatever you want.
And let me know when you arrive!
See you on social!
~~Renae
P.S. I have to warn you that my business and personal lives blur somewhat on some social channels, especially Twitter, when I like to vote and comment when The Voice is on. So, although, you'll see your fair share of business- and marketing-related pieces, you may also see posts about the things I love, like cats, funny memes, wine, inspirational quotes, travel, and music.
